Current travel situation

 

Due to the spread of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends refraining from international travel as a matter of urgency. The Government imposes travel restrictions and only allow certain groups of people to enter the country: 

 

  • Travellers from EU/Schengen countries are allowed to enter Estonia without restrictions, provided that they show no COVID-19 symptoms and that the incidence rate of COVID-19 in their country of origin does not exceed 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days.

  • Travellers from non-EU/EEA countries: travel from Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Rwanda, Thailand, Singapore is possible.

 

Are there any travel restrictions on the students’ country of origin?

 

The travel restrictions are not imposed on certain countries of origin for international students. The general travel restrictions applies.


Do I need a PCR test? 

 

If you travel from high-risk countries and do not want to stay in 10-day self-isolation, you are obliged to: 

  • take a COVID-19 test no earlier than 72 hours before arrival and the result must be negative. While in Estonia, a second test can be taken no earlier than on the sixth day after the first test. 

  • If you have not taken a test up to 72 hours before their arrival in Estonia can take one immediately after their arrival and the second test no earlier than six days after their first test. The 10-day isolation period can be concluded earlier if both tests are negative.

 

The person arrives in Estonia for the purpose of working, studying or receiving health services or for family reasons or transit. For the reasons listed above, taking a coronavirus test is not required.

 

What is the quarantine situation?

 

If you are travelling from EU/Schengen countries that the incidence rate of COVID-19 in their country of origin is above 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, 10-day self-isolation is mandatory.


If you are travelling from third countries that are not listed in Annex I, a 10-day self-isolation is mandatory.
