Current travel situation

 

The Italian Government imposes different travel rules depending on the country of origin or destination and the reasons for travelling. The current travel restrictions are in force from March 6 to  April 6, 2021. According to the Ministerial Decree March 2, 2021, there are five classification of risk areas and corresponding travel restrictions:

 

  • List A: No limitations

  • List B: Movements to and from these countries are allowed without any certification of motivation for travelling.The obligation to complete a self-declaration form remains.

  • List C: A certificate of a negative antigenic or molecular test, performed up to 48 hours before entry, is required.

  • List D: Australia, New Zealand, Rwanda, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand can enter Italy without any reasons. 

  • List E: Rest of the world 


Since 02.03.2021, there have been special restrictions imposed on the UK, Brazil and Austria.

 

Are there any travel restrictions on the students’ country of origin?

 

Since 02.03.2021,Italy has imposed special restrictions for the UK, Brazil and Austria. There is a ban on entry:

  • if you stayed in or transited through the UK and Brazil in the 14 days preceding entry into Italy or 

if you stayed in or transited for more than 12 hours in Austria in the previous 14 days.


Do I need a PCR test? 

 

The situation depends on which country you travel from: 

 

If you travel from countries in List A, List B and List D, it is not obligatory to undergo molecular or antigenic testing upon entry into the Italian national territory unless you stayed in the high risk countries in the last 14 days.

 

If you travel from a country in the List C, you need to present negative results of a molecular or antigenic test. If you fail to do so, you are subject to fiduciary isolation and health surveillance.

 

Travelling from countries in List E are only allowed for specific reasons. Fiduciary isolation and health surveillance for 14 days is mandatory.

 

What is the quarantine situation?

 

There is no general quarantine obligation for travellers from countries in List A, B and D.

 

If you travel from a country in the List C, health surveillance and 14-day fiduciary isolation is mandatory if you fail to present negative results of a molecular or antigenic test.

 

If you travel from a county in List E, It is also necessary to undergo fiduciary isolation and health surveillance for 14 days.
